Mike's Tips: Making the most of your Studio

Working at home in your "studio" is very different from working in the "Field". Here Mike gives some of his studio tips.

  • Try to paint in a room that has a North facing window. This not only reduces disracting shadows moving across your work, but gives a cool blue natural light.
  • If you want to work on when natural light fades, do not rely on ordinary domestic light bulbs - they will cast a warm light over your work and make for very false colour statements. Invest in 'DAYLIGHT' bulbs or fluorescent strip lights. You can then be sure that your colour will look right the following morning in natural daylight.
